Buckle ‘n’ Boots: Holding the Bandwagon at gunpoint and Stamping Their Authority on UK Country

Echo Scale™: ★★★★✮ (4.8/5)

Since their formation in early 2024, Bee and Laura Jayne, the dynamic duo behind Buckle ‘n’ Boots, have been tirelessly carving out a name for themselves in the UK country music scene. Eschewing the usual Nashville clichés, they deliver a powerful brand of country-pop infused with grit, heart, and undeniable charisma. From infectious toe-tappers to heartfelt ballads, their journey has been marked by hard work, smart collaborations, and a clear vision for their sound. Their debut single, “Love in the Dark,” released in July 2024, set the stage with its catchy melody and picturesque video. This was swiftly followed by the epic anthem “Slow Down Honey,” earning them BBC Introducing’s coveted Track of the Day. January 2025 saw the release of the impactful “Best Part Of Me,” a track that showcased a different, more emotive side to their artistry. Now, with the release of their highly anticipated EP, “Jumpin’ on the Bandwagon” (with a cheeky bonus track!), Buckle ‘n’ Boots are ready to prove they’re not just riding the wave, they’re creating it.

Track by Track: A Deep Dive into “Jumpin’ on the Bandwagon”

Love in the Dark

From the moment that fiddle kicks in, “Love in the Dark” declares its intentions loud and clear: this is a country tune that means business. The whistling interlude evokes images of tumbleweeds and dusty spurs, while the instrumental layering, particularly the piano and violin, is exquisitely balanced. Buckle ‘n’ Boots make it unequivocally clear from this upbeat opener – they’re no damsels in distress. This is a powerful, fun, and gutsy display of their musical prowess.

Stanley

Get ready to groove because “Stanley” is an absolute riot! The intro is pure, unadulterated stanky goodness, riddled with infectious groove and tight harmonies. What truly sets this track apart is the meticulous attention to detail – small nuances that others might overlook, Buckle ‘n’ Boots bring to the forefront with precision and flair. Their vocal power is reminiscent of a stetson-wearing Christina Aguilera, while that guitar tone is simply to die for: all grit, all twang, and all the attitude needed for a top-tier country banger. This is undoubtedly the standout track of the EP. If Stanley doesn’t pour them a whiskey after this, he truly has no soul.

Best Part Of Me

An emotive masterpiece that would make Dolly Parton proud, “Best Part Of Me” allows the vocal harmonies ample room to breathe, creating something truly beautiful. This is a masterfully told story of heartbreak and the empowering journey of moving on with strength and determination – a narrative that resonates deeply with anyone who’s ever felt the sting of loss. The perfectly timed entrance of the kick drum provides a subtle yet effective drive. While the song is undeniably awesome, a real crescendo where the vocals are really belting could have truly elevated the emotional impact and sent listeners spiralling into their feelings.

Slow Down Honey

Buckle ‘n’ Boots absolutely own that bluesy country rhythm like no one else. If you can stay still while this one’s playing, you might need a pulse check! It’s an absolute singalong bop brimming with soul. The enormous snare sounds phenomenal, and the bass guitar provides a rich, full depth often missing in country tracks. This is a true country rock masterclass. We absolutely love this song.

Love in the Dark (Live)

Is this just a flex, ladies? Because if it is, it’s working. The ability to sound this pristine in a live recording is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about Buckle ‘n’ Boots’ stage presence and raw talent. These artists are a must-see live act. While the kick drum threatens to be a minor blip, let’s remember this is a live recording! The harmonies are delivered with a seamless ease that belies the difficulty of such a performance. What a performance!

The Echo Rebel Verdict: Embrace Your Inner Cowboy!

As summer approaches, do yourself a favour: stream Buckle ‘n’ Boots, grab a beer, fire up the grill, and fully embrace your inner cowboy. Just make sure you’re not alone when “Best Part Of Me” comes on, or your neighbours might think you’re having an alcohol-induced existential crisis. Buckle ‘n’ Boots are without a doubt ones to watch – this is a classy, classy EP that cements their place as a force in modern country music.
