Artist of the Month – July 2025

This Month: A Showdown of Styles

July brought the kind of musical variety that makes choosing an Artist of the Month feel more like a battle royale. From stripped-down acoustic brilliance to lush emotional folk and full-throttle punk chaos, the range was staggering.

We don’t say this lightly: this was the hardest decision so far.

Each artist delivered something five-star worthy. Each track or album earned its place.
So, as we’ve done before in times of chaos Tavis cast the deciding vote.

Let’s break it down.

3️⃣ Third Place: Nantua – “Falling”

Genre: Indie-Folk
Echo Scale™: 5/5 ★★★★★
Release Date: July 4, 2025

Nantua’s third single, Falling, is a masterclass in minimalism and emotion. Lynne Thomas’s vocals float like mist over Bradshaw’s airy guitar work, creating a sonic atmosphere that doesn’t chase you it draws you in.

From the repeated mantra-like chorus to the subtle, organic percussion that emerges at the perfect moment, this is a song about surrender. Emotional gravity. Letting go.

It’s soft-spoken, yes but impossible to forget.

“This isn’t background music. It’s a world to step into.”

With Falling, Nantua firmly secured their position as one of the UK’s most quietly powerful new voices.

2️⃣ Second Place: Of Limbo – Unplugged

Genre: Acoustic Rock / Alternative
Echo Scale™: 5/5 ★★★★★
Release Date: July 25, 2025

Of Limbo flipped the script and delivered a jaw-dropping acoustic album that proved you don’t need distortion to hit hard. Unplugged is clean, emotive, technically stunning, and filled with moments that showcase world-class musicianship.

Tracks like “Estrada” and “Something Real” highlight their control and range, while their covers of “Finish What Ya Started” and “Street Spirit” breathe new life into classics with taste and clarity.

And then there’s “Firetruck” six minutes of ambient brilliance that somehow steals the whole show.

“This is a production marvel. These guys are world-class, and then some.”

Unplugged isn’t a detour it’s a declaration of versatility and serious talent.

1️⃣ Artist of the Month: The Guillotines – “New Wild West”

Genre: Ska-Punk / Rock
Echo Scale™: 5/5 ★★★★★
Release Date: July 25, 2025

This one hit like a bottle smashed on a saloon floor. New Wild West is part cinematic Western, part punk riot, and entirely explosive.

The Guillotines delivered swagger, energy, and vision all wrapped in tight brass arrangements, thundering drums, and snarling vocals. Every moment is crafted to knock the wind out of you, from the galloping intro to the punchy snare at 1:04.

It’s not just clever. It’s dangerous, confident, and a hell of a lot of fun.

“This isn’t just punk. It’s punk with a purpose and a shotgun.”

With this release, The Guillotines didn’t just drop a great track. They raised the bar for the entire scene.

🏅 Artist of the Year Update

With their win this month, The Guillotines now join Eliza Delf & The Wilderness and Saint Senara in the official shortlist for Echo Rebel UK’s 2025 Artist of the Year.

We’ve only got three finalists so far and already it feels impossible to pick.
It’s going to be a brutal final. Just how we like it.

Final Thoughts

Huge credit to Nantua and Of Limbo for delivering absolute excellence in their own lanes. Three very different artists. Three completely deserving releases. One chaotic month.

August, you’re up next. Let’s see who’s brave enough to try and top this lineup.

Echo Rebel UK – For the bold. For the real. For the rebel.
